Environmental policy

We are committed to monitoring our environmental performance and often review processes and operations to seek new ways to manage our environmental impact.

Our premises are fitted with energy saving LED lights throughout with auto on and off functions, which helps us not only reduce costs and increase savings that we can pass on to our customers, but it also significantly reduces our power and energy consumption. LED lights have a longer lifespan than traditional lighting solutions, which also allows us to avoid the use of power hungry cherry pickers and machinery to lift our warehouse operatives up to the dizzying heights required to make changes as frequently as before.

As we strive to make operational changes within our business itself, we are also aware that we can help our customers reduce their impact on the environment. This is why we only trade with like-minded and environmentally responsible sources when purchasing new products. For example, our very popular cedar hanging blocks, which customers use to bring a fresh scent to their wardrobes and protect their favourite garments from moths, are all obtained from a source which is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide.

All packaging we use to get our products to you safely come from an Eco-friendly and very conscious UK Packaging supplier, who have made sourcing eco-friendly packaging and understanding how sustainable our packaging is easier than ever before with their eco-score, eco-credentials filters and their own eco-icons. This allows us to identify the type of packaging we need to fulfil our orders and then ensure we select the material type with highest eco-score, where possible.

We reuse or recycle all excess packaging materials and work alongside Essex Reclamation, whose focus is to help businesses like ours to achieve zero waste to landfill in the most cost effective and efficient way. With their assistance and other local council approved companies, we are able to recycle up to ten tonnes of cardboard every month.

Furthermore, our office is fitted with printers capable of double-sided printing. This significantly reduces the amount of paper we use, which in turn contributes to a reduction in paper waste generation. Not only is this environmentally friendly, but our paper costs are dramatically reduced; something which helps us benefit our customers by competing at the very best prices on the online market. We also do our utmost to use emails as opposed to printed documents. By sharing information or documents over email, we eliminate the need for printing several documents every day.

Finally, we are very conscious when it comes to turning off computers and laptops and we try to ensure that they are unplugged at the end of each day. As most appliances still consume energy even when turned off, we make every effort to ensure that they are unplugged when leaving the office. All our employees are educated in using features such as sleep mode on computers or turning off computer screens in order to slow down energy consumption. These little things make a big difference and cut costs down whilst saving the environment.
